'Te Huia'

Te Huia
A beautiful property of 16 acres, six of which is a forest of New Zealand Kauri (famous native tree). Huia is a very historical settlement on the Nth Western side of the Manukau Harbour, one of two harbours here in Auckland New Zealand. The main harbour is the Waitemata (sparkling waters) which is on the east coast of Auckland.

The owners, John and Sharon have kindly given me permission to wander with my camera over this inspiring property, for which they have very clear plans for the lifestyle both now and in the future. Primarily they want the land to be totally self-reliant, providing its own vegetables and fruit, poultry, eggs etc. Also they wish to preserve the local flora and fauna including the Kauri plantation for posterity. There is no shortage of fresh water straight from the nearby Lower Huia Dam and good fishing is provided by the Manukau Harbour, just a short walk away. I find this a place of peace and tranquillity; John and Sharon are very special people whose friendship I value highly. Future goals include a local FM radio station broadcasting music, interviews etc primarily (but not only) relevent with the philosophy the owners have already established (and which I totally empathise with).
