I bought this bike intact and rode it a while before restoring it. It was a nice solid one to start with and was missing absolutely nothing. Kent Holt painted it. This is the book end to the 1955 I own as 1960 was the end of the run. This one still had its "resonator" fully intact and was not rusted whatsoever. Timing lever and magneto advance/retard system is intact and working. The wheels are NOS BMW and correct for the year model. They are 100% original down to the spokes.
I have the same year R69 I am restoring. Engine #654654. Its been in my family since 1974. Yours is one of the first ones that I have seen with the "3rd"muffler still in tact. Mine has a black replacement crossover pipe. I have the engine apart and in the process of cleaning the slingers. Mine looks very, very clean. It has 43000 miles on it. Thought i'd be able to throw it back together, but after talking to Vech the other day,I learned otherwise! What an interesting old scooter! German engineering!
