"Skunk II" is the '17 Miata, "Skunk" was a '00' Miata that we bought off a repo lot for cheap and put 100k miles on. Long story but the short of it is when we were dating back when, every date without fail that we had we would smell a skunk. Still plagues us to this day, every road trip. Car got the nickname. Perhaps someone was trying to tell us something but it worked out pretty good anyway! Actually skunks are pretty common in Tennessee so... still a fun story.
