We attended a conference in the city of Merida on the Yucatan peninsula in late March 2010. We were able to visit two of the many Mayan archaeological sites in the Yucatan: the famous Chitzen Itza and the less well-known site of Ek Balam. The second set of photos is from modern-day Merida, focusing on some of the Palm Sunday cultural events we watched in the city center
