The 'gun' is carved from local wood, the spear is taken from the ribbing of an old umbrella, and the spear is propelled by a large 'rubber band' sold in local stores (or from rubber strips taken from an inner tube).
The goggles are also homemade from the glass of a soda bottle or flashlight lens.This type of spearfishing is done in shallow pools of water on the reef at periods of low tide,
