Planting rice in a burned swidden field

Rice is the main staple of the diet, though often other crops such as sweet potatoes, vegetables, and fruit trees are also mixed into the swidden fields.
Here a family is planting rice seeds in a field that has been recently burned after cutting down and clearing the trees and brush.
The ash from the burned vegetation acts as a natural fertilizer to enhance crop yields.
