We were puzzled by this sculpture along the waterfront of Sitges until we googled Bacardi and learned that the
founder of the company, Facundo Bacardí Massó, was a Catalan wine merchant born in Sitges in 1814, who emigrated to Cuba in 1830.
Here he founded the family business producing rum. In the rafters of their first distillery lived fruit bats -- thus the Bacardi bat logo. (Wikipedia)
