Amish migrants from Europe first settled in rural Pennsylvania in the 18th century. Today, the Amish are best known in Lancaster County in SE Pennsylvania but their settlements are scattered all across central and western Pennsylvania as well. As established communities expand, available farm land becomes scarce and very expensive. This land pressure leads to migration and the formation of new Amish communities.
Love your simply beautiful photos .... just discovered. Thank you for allowing them to become backgrounds for my laptop, so their peacefulness can touch me every time I sign on! Dianne P., Pennsylvania

Someday I would love to visit and tour the Amish countryside. They seem to never have too many problems and simply live their lives day by day. They don't seem to worry much and that I love. God Bless them all.

I enjoyed your gallery on one of my favorite societal sects of people. Also enjoyed the respect you gave towards their values of not photographing faces.
