Larsen traps

These traps are legal, apparently, "as long as the decoy bird is looked after". That is supposed to mean that the bird has food, water, shelter and can extend its wings fully in every direction. Hmmm... wonder what this jay thinks of that?

In the interests of balance and fairness, there was a handful of grain in the jay's cage, together with some none-too-fresh water. Presumably, the sacking over the top of the cage was to provide shade for part of the day.

I am in no way denying the problems farmers clearly have with crows and pigeons, but is this really an efficient and humane method of pest control?
