Challenge 11 - change of seasons

Challenge 11 - Change of Seasons

Now that summer has officially ended, it is a time of change in our surroundings. We are all experiencing a change in our surroundings, usually driven by our climate and environment. This challenge will involve taking your best shot and documenting the changes that you see, whether in your backyard or out on a Sunday afternoon hike with friends or family. The photo should clearly showcase such a change.

Valid shoot dates: Sept 24th - Oct 9th, 2009
Voting dates: Oct 10th - 14th, 2009 - EXTENDED TO THE 16TH !!!

#20. Great case of being in the right place at the right time! Love the sense of purpose of the guy on the right, and the careful, steadying hands of the guy on the left. That one's going to make a whole lot of pumpkin pie! The whole situation is just hilarious!

I like many including 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 12, 23 and 24.....After some deliberation I decided to go with #23 just because I like it and it has beautiful colours, but I was also very attracted to #11.

I have to vote for # 14, nothing signifies a change in seasons more than to see and hear geese as they fly overhead. Upon their return, I know that spring has arrived.

And here's my vote: number 18.
The topic is change, and the obvious is around us, leaves in a riot of colour.

Number 18 talks about another kind of change. CFB Rocklife once had a life of it's own, housing our fine military; I remember well when there was military police in there, and it was something to be allowed to drive through this enclave, it had a different feel to it.

Our military has now all but abandoned this neighborhood, and the grass is growing, houses are boarded up. It's season has come to a change.

I commend all the other pictures submitted to the challenge. I think this has been our finest work to date. Bravo to all participants.

I vote for number 7, love the detail on the leaf with the background a little blured. But I must say that they are all very good pictures

I vote for 24. The lighting is great. Another one would be #7 - great angle.

My vote is for #7 - what a great angle.

I also like 17 with the leaf highlighted by the grey stone (but I think there's a bit of a shoe in the photo). #20 is also great as it reminds of the country fairs that are happing at this time of year.

Wow. Great to see so much participation and quality entries. Tough choices.

I vote for #4. Although I would have like the Depth of Field to include all the flowers I think it meets the content of the challenge best.

I also really like #15 as it is unique and the type of photo I like.

My choice would be #5. If it had a larger DOF it'd make a nice poster. The entire image is essentually red and green with a little brown/yellow thrown in. Simple and orderly.

My other favorites are: 2, 4, 7, 15, & 17

I vote for #24. I find the subjects to be automatic story tellers of the changed season. The orange and browns of fall. The green grass in the background is like looking back at the summer behind us. Its the perfect reflection of past and present.

#7 drew me in immediately when scanning the thumbnails and it still draws me in even after viewing the other photos. #4 deserves a mention for showing a great "before and after" effect.

Very difficult to choose, but I am going to go with 7 (very interesting angle). Others that are at the top of my list are 4 (great subject), 5 (love the colours and the rows make for interesting composition) and 23 (also love the colours), but really, they are all great.

I vote for number 7. I really like the focus on the leaf and especially the angle the shot is done at. The background draws you in but at the same time does not take away from the focus on the leaf. Wow.. there were a lot of great pictures.. impressive. -John Trude

Sorry, I added numbers 22 and 23 after the deadline. My vote would go to # 12 as it has an at home yet sombre feeling to it...I find it somehow compelling, and of course its beautiful. I could stare at it for hours...probably will.
