Challenge 26 - Sparks Street Shot

Sparks Street Shot - Take your best 3 shots on or from anywhere along Sparks Street…...there are countless opportunities, rain or shine, day or night. No more excuses for not bringing your camera to work! This challenge is especially for those who are new to the club and for those who have been procrastinating for any reason! There are plenty of opportunities ranging from people to architectural to abstract. Grab your cameras and lunch and take a walk!

Next week promises to be a bit better, weather-wise!

Regular rules apply - shoot between June 10th-June 21st (you can shoot on the Monday too)
Three shots per person
Post no later than one minute past midnight, June 21st

I like 19 and 20. 19 for the images reflected in the glass windows of the restaurant and 20 because this is a little detail that is often missed in the architecture on the mall. Good stuff - Steve

I like many of these but #13 is my favorite.. You just know they're all staring at a short skirt or something. Good eye and timing.

Another fun challenge... it did draw out participation. I think we could repeat this challenge again, adn never repeat any of the shots. I will vote for #12 for the fun composition. If you follow the elements, it forms a nice, jagged diagonal going bottom left to top right. I would have sharpenned this picture a bit, darken the background around the outside edges, and saturated to take advantage of the summer condiment containers. Good job. Congrats to everyone else. Thanks Pete for the challenge. SUGGESTION: Canada Day is near.... but you choose, of course. Bob Boisvert

Wow! great shots everyone. I am voting for #2. Great job of putting 2 elements together to achieve an effect and create a statement. It also successfully shows another side of Sparks Street--not the tourists, but the people who live and work there, and a little bit of what the brochures wouldn't show. It's also rainy--where are all the people? Sparks can be bustling with crowds on a sunny day, but it takes on a completely different feel when it's raining/slushy or in the winter when it is bitterly cold and you are one of few on it pushing through a windy snowstorm in the dark at 5 pm! The broad swatches of colour and clean lines are also very effective, punctuated by the bright red of the employees' shirts. I like that the subject is engaged and participating in the photo. 6 - nice colour, repetition, angle. 14 - nice to see something a little different! very creative. 23 - good angle! I agree with Gary; it would have been nice to get just a little more face detail. Looking forward to the next challenge! Jenna

I like the layers of #21, so it gets my vote. I also wanted to vote for #12, it is very symbolic of Sparks Street and downtown. I like the colors of it, and the spoons all the same angle. Janice

I really like 4 and 19, but will vote for 19 as is captures a side of Sparks that reminds me of the tourists aspect, which is a main attraction in Ottawa for tourists. Many more captured my gaze, congratulations. As for # 14, not sure the right half of the picture was taking during the challenge date :) but very interesting.

I really like all of them. Sparks is one of the most interesting places in Ottawa! For this challenge, I'm choosing #21. It's a nice take on the challenge. It had my eyes moving all over trying to count the many different angles/reflections. Bravo! ...Linda M

The ones that attract my immediate interest are 5, 13, 17, 20 and 23. My vote goes to 23 for the action, but it is a shame that the cellist's face is obscured by her arm. Gary
