Inside ancient church in Lalibela. Eleven churches excavated or carved out of rock by King Lalibela in the 12th century with the intent of building a new Jerusalem. First a trench was carved out of the ground and then the churches were chiseled out of the rock. Legend says that angels came at night to work on the churches.
