We have wattle birds in our garden in inner Sandy Bay. I must make sure it is the Yellow variety. They are quite destructive and will come to the ground for fresh tomatoes growing on the bush.I think other birds are scared by them. But they sound wonderful.

Hi Alen,
I'm considering the Yellow wattle bird as a focal species for a long term research project (Ph.D). I've had many ideas as to how to approach this. I'd be happy to share any thoughts you might have on the uniquness of this bird. I watched them daily during the breeding season at the South Hobart Rivelet (Linear park). I also had success in bringing them to ground with a mixture of sugar water and Eucalptus blossom. P.s. lovely photographs you have on display. Martin Pepperday.
