OMEGA CENTURI

THE LARGEST AND BRIGHTEST GLOBULAR CLUSTER OF THE MILKY WAY
MAG 3.7 AND AS BIG AS THE FULL MOON!
IT IS ABOUT 18000 LY AWAY FROM US AND CONTAINS A FEW MILLION STARS!!!
The stars in its center are so crowded that they are believed to be only 0.1 light years away from each other. It is about 12 billion years old.

THIS IMAGE WAS TAKEN WITH 280MM CANON LENS (200MM LENS AND 1.4 TELECONVERTOR) WITH DSI PRO 3
HRGB IMAGE TOTAL OF 30 MINUTES
IMAGED FROM HAZAN CAVES IN ISRAEL ON THE 18TH OF APRIL 2009
THE CLUSTER WAS ONLY ABOUT 5 DEGREES OVER THE HORIZON MAKING IT VERY DIFFICULT TO IMAGE BECAUSE OF THE LIGHT POLLUTION NEAR THE HORIZON.
