IC 4901 and new Supernova 2011gv.

Cootamundra, NSW

The obscure southern galaxy IC 4901 and the newly discovered supernova, 2011gv or PSN J19542142-5842390, discovered by Greg Bock of the Australian BOSS Team on the night of the 19 October 2011.

Magnitude 14.5, Type 11P, 16 arc seconds west and 10 arc seconds north of the center of the galaxy.

This is a heavily cropped image to highlight the galaxy and supernova.
