Comet 2010 X1 Elenin

Cootamundra, NSW.

This was an extremely difficult comet to image, it was low in the western sky and disappearing into the Zodiacal Light, telescope was almost horizontal. Note the two small galaxies in the upper right, NGC 4593 (upper) and NGC 4602 (lower). Taken 1855 (AEST) on 02 September, 0855 (UT) on 02 September.

It seems this comet is unlikely to survive it's journey around the Sun, time will tell.

Takahashi FSQ-106ED.
