NGC 5460

Cootamundra, NSW.

NGC 5460 is a bright scattered Open Cluster about 35 arc minutes across and shines at a magnitude of around 6.10. It is also known by the following designations: Collinder 280, Melotte 123, Raab 100 and OCL 925, distance is around 2200 light years.

Around 20 arc minutes north of a semi-circle of stars is the conspicuous Lenticular Galaxy, ESO 221-G26 which is 50" x 30" in size and shines at magnitude (B) 12.10. In the center of the image the very faint Galaxy, ESO 221-G25 is very faintly visible shining at magnitude (B) 14.80.
