-24 HRS IN ANCHORAGE @ KINCAID PARK-
An amazing event held right in the city of Anchorage at Kincaid Park, hosted by the Arctic Bicycle Club MTB Division. Saturday morning brought beautiful clear skies and the park supplied a fun venue for all that attended. Close to 100 riders left the starting line @ noon participating in 6, 12 or the entire 24 hour race, either solo or as part of a relay type team. Saturday night's fun carried on with a couple hundred people in the stadium area cheering on the racers, eating BBQ, sharing a beer and making smores around the infamous Burn Barrel, all set to a soundtrack provided by 2 DJ's. Sunset @ 11:40 P.M. gave way to 'dark' trail conditions for just a few hours.
Sunday morning was blanketed by grey skies and chillier temps. The toughest of the tough were still in their saddles cranking away the 12.5 mile laps, many more riders joined them back on the trail as they awoke from a short nap. By noon the temps had warmed up and the sun peaked out as the awards presentation was underway. Riders and spectators alike revealed in the comradery that is always so prevalent with this relatively small group that calls such a great place home.
