Nanling National Forest Park (Nov 2011)

Nanling National Forest Park is the largest national forest park of Guangdong province. It is located in Ruyuan autonomous county in Shaoguan, the northernmost of Guangdong, 285 kilometers far away from Guangzhou. It consists of four scenic spots: Little Huangshan Mountain, Waterfalls, Qinshui Valley and the First Peak of Guangdong.

Little's stone's father suggested two families to have a trip to Nanling forest park, as we all like to bring child to close to nature. It sounds a great idea! So, we decided to go in a weekend.

Day 1: After hard driving almost 4 hours, we arrived at Nanling, and lived in Orange House. The hotel is just 800 meters away from the gate of forest park. It's a very clean and comfortable hotel, while we also found another big hotel being constructed just at the gate of the park with hundreds of rooms.

Day 2: We took 4 hours climbing Little Huangshan Mountain. Children were happy on the road. When we down the hill, it began to rain. We had to give up the line of Waterfalls. However, this made us tried to drive to the first peak of Guangdong, which it's not on our schedule originally. We all felt lucky with this, as the sunset and the scenery are really beautiful. It made us made a decision to visit Mang Mountain next year if possible.

Day 3: Almost 5 hours in Qinshui valley, where Aaron and little stone had wonderful playing, and we all enjoyed the walking in the valley.

Tips: you can drive to the top of the mountain from Mang mountain national park which connected with Nanling forest park about 1.5 hours driving, but the road is muddy, narrow and hard to drive, and also need to walk about 10 to 20 minutes to the peak. But a new road is being constructed, and local forest administrator said tourists would drive from Nanling side instead of Mang Mountain side next year. It will save about 1 hour driving.
