The death railroad was built by POWs taken hostage by the Japanese in WW2. It was to provide a supply line to the Japanese forces through Burma. Many foreigners, including Australians, Chinese, etc, died building it. It still stands today, and Natalie the tour guide said they still use portions of it. Kinda chilling. Scary too. Jarrett is a history teacher, so this was a big highlight on this trip.
