I bought one of these superb bikes(I jest not)in 1985/6,when I was working for the Automobile Association.I bought it from a colleague in Tiptree and rode it 25 miles home with no brakes;just about the scariest ride of my life.Like so many things in life,if your expectations are not high, you can be pleasantly surprised.I was.A nice easy going bike, easy to live with, maintain and pleasant to ride.I sold it after 6 months to a one armed Moto Morini 500 rider.(I kid you not). All the switch gear on the Morini was on the left handlebar, with just a spigot on the rhs to locate his false arm whilst riding. He said he wanted it for his girlfriend to ride to and from work,so she wouldn't run up the mileage on her Harley.
