The "unsafe" and cordoned off,west wall.Structurally unsafe.The original mortar has crumbled,so the walling could collapse at any time.Renovation is ongoing,but very slow,due to lack of funds.From a purely tourist point of view,it's amazing that more is not made of this castle,as many historians believe it to be the birthplace of Robert The Bruce,King of Scotland,who won independence for Scotland,when he famously defeated the much larger English army,under Edward II,at the Battle of Bannockburn,in 1314.
