The tree in shot,sits on the remains of a pond bay dam.According to Kent Archaeology's website,the finest remains of such,in Kent.Certainly,I walked over the remains of the dam,in both directions,and the triangular section is very obvious.Just what industry it served isn't recorded.Probably a mill, or iron works.
