In the far corner of the churchyard,is a timber gate, with a latch. It must be 6ft 6ins. tall, with a wooden frame above. It is locked. At the top is a 5 inch gap, twixt door and frame. This is the shot I obtained by holding my camera up to said gap.I've rarely encountered any building so deliberately set up to be un-photographable as Penshurst Place. All across the front elevation is a 10ft. high hedge, and just when you've worked out how to photograph the house, minus the hedge, one discovers that an enterprising soul has planted a copse just at that point to prevent such action.Or from the road, another hedge.
