An unusual cross-dyke

Morgan's Hill, Wiltshire ,England

To the left end of the bushes in shot,is a cross-dyke,linear earthwork. In this case,it was double ditched, whereas such are normally just a single ditch. It ran from the Roman Road on the north side of Morgan's Hill down to Wansdyke and probably demarcated the hilltop for a special reason.see http://www.streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?x=402500&y=167500&z=120&sv=morgan's+hill&st=3&tl=Map+of+Morgan's+Hill,+Wiltshire+[Hill/Mountain]&searchp=ids.srf&mapp=map.srf
