This attempt was inspired by a two page spread photo,in SLR Photography,September issue, back in 1988.Then,the said shot was amazing. This is ok,for a first attempt. The other photographer had placed his camera by a pond, and using a long cable release, lured the swans with food.I hung around ,ignoring the hissing and occasional wing flapping. After an hour or so he calmed down, being plied with pieces of pancake. In this shot the swan has just taken another piece of pancake.NB:It's worthy of note that the S100fs has a flip up screen so there was no eye contact with the swan.I believe this was a major factor in my being able to get so close.
NB:This image has just won 2nd.place in Fuji.co.uk's monthly photo competition for May 2010,winning me a new Fuji Finepix S2500HD.The 1988 version won the photographer a Canon SLR AND £500 and 1st place.
