San Pedro Sula, Honduras (May 2007)

Located in the northern part of Honduras, San Pedro Sula was founded in 1536 by the Spanish conquistador Don Pedro de Alvarado and was known as "Villa de San Pedro de Puerto Caballos". Within a few years, it became known as San Pedro Sula ("Sula" came from the local dialect Usula and means "valley of birds"). Today, it is the center of trade and is the second largest city in Honduras.
