Guyana is situated on the northern coast of South America, nestled between Venezuela, Brazil and Suriname. It is the former British colony among the 3 Guyanas and the only English-speaking land in South America. Tropical rainforest covers more than 80% of the country. It has a reputation for political instability and of Jim Jones and cults gone awry. Upon closer inspection, it is a beautiful country with lush rainforests, beautiful waterfalls and happy and hospitable people. It is an eco-tourist’s paradise. It is worth a visit to stand above the unspoiled Kaieteur Falls in the rainforest unmarred by tourist shops and guardrails. Guyana personifies nature in all its natural beauty.
