Henry Chapman Mercer, (1856-1930), built Fonthill as his home, in Buck's County, Pennsylvania between 1908-1912. It is constructed entirely of hand-mixed concrete. The house contains 44 rooms, 32 stairwells, 18 fireplaces and more than 200 windows. Inside you will find more than 900 original prints, as well as original furniture, fixtures, books and tapestries. The interior walls, floors and ceilings are decorated with Mercer's handcrafted tiles.
