The 2nd of October 2005 marked an historical occasion. For the first time in 260 years, an East Indiaman set sail from a Swedish harbour to embark on an expedition to China. The ship will travel along the same route as the historical trade vessels followed in the 18th century. The Swedish Ship "Götheborg" reached Guangzhou in July 2006 and Shanghai in August 2006. On Saturday 28th of October the ship begins the journey back to Sweden.
