~~~FOUR LITTLE BABIES~~~
Memphis, Tenn
Now my daddy died in Arizona
And my mama died in Tennessee
And they left four little babies
And four hungry mouths to feed.
But God sent a guardian angel
And He cared with loving hands,
He said some day you'll see them
Over in the promised land.
~~
Now my daddy was a sheriff,
A law and order man,
And he taught his four little babies
To love their fellow man
And he said as he was dying,
"Now you take each others hand
And always stay together
I'll see you in the promise land".
~~
Now my mama was his helpmate
She loved her Tennessee man
And she loved her four little babies
Just as good as any mama can
And she said as she was dying,
"Now you take each others hand
And always stay together
I'll see you in the promise land."
~~
Now there's a grave in Arizona,
There's a grave in Tennessee
About three thousand miles apart
But I'm sure as I can be
That my daddy and mama are in heaven
They're together holding hands.
Just waiting for their four little babies
To meet them in the promise land.
~~
Now those four little babies
Have babies of their own
And they know some day in heaven
We'll gather around God's great throne
And in that great meeting. somewhere in the skies
There will be lots of hugs and kisses
And never more goodbyes.
Never more goodbyes,
Never more goodbyes.
This is so touching! You've written a wonderful, sweet poem, Susan and it's such a great tribute to your Mom and Dad. Thank you for sharing.
