It is not only the surf that works here, Carol. It is the context you bring to it -- the contrasting tide pools in the foreground, the rocky peninsula in the background, and just as important, the flat winter lighting. The patterns of flow within the waterfall make an impressive subject, but they acquire added meaning by such supporting elements as these.
