Looking through your recent posts, I'm glad to see you're thriving artistically in the Pacific northwest.
You're an inspiration. I'd love to visit the area. It's such a contrast to arid and harsh southern California.

Where do I begin? I could spend hours in your galleries. So much terrific work from one with an eye for the moods and atmosphere, but also the graphic and the art in every scene.

Thanks for visiting my Death valley gallery. It was my first trip there and I am still awed and overwhelmed by the expansive, unique beauty. I feel like it is impossable to describe the overall impact of the landscape and impossable too, to capture it in photos. Little snapshots of various parts can be captured and shared but they fail to communitate the overall impact of being there. However, I do have I have many more images and will continue to post one or two when I find time. Infact I am working on editing a few this afternoon.
I notice that you have began to post more frequently and am glad because your work is always interesting. Your point of view is unique and inspiring. Due to time restraints, I don't often comment and leave more time for viewing but I wish for more time to interact with others.

Hello Carol......
You truly have an eye for up close or tighter compositions, something that I am still learning how to explore. Your colors can really pull me in as well.
Best to you.....William

Hi Carol:

I'm a Vietnamese American and do love looking at things through the view finder of the camera.

You're one of the very few who, with the lenses, have seen Vietnam in such a perculiar way. I do enjoy all of your images of Vietnam in particular and of other galleries as well.

Thanks for sharing your work.

Regards,

QL

Hi Carol: Thanks for the kind words! I wrote a reply last night, but I don't think it went through...I am a Northwest- based freelance photographer, with a contract to shoot for the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle. I've been obsessed lately with the tiger action shots, and "freezing" those critters in mock combat, before they slow down and just sleep all day...The cubs are one year old males, 180 pounds each and at the moment, full of energy. We have a great exhibit, and though it looks close, there is a deep concrete pit between me and them. I have been allowed behind scenes with many of the animals to photograph, but tigers are farrrrr too dangerous...I use the Canon 135L f 2.0 lens mostly for the tiger action, ISO at 4-800..and usually early befor the zoo opens...

Your images are beautiful, and I'll be back to view your work more! Dale Unruh

Hi Carol
I like your style, you seem to shoot a lot using your telephoto, which makes for interesting views and details. Too few people shoot landscape or cityscape using telephoto lens and usually they work best.
In any case you definitely have a grest sense of composition, your latest SF gallery proves it.

Excellent work. Your photo's are well composed and extremely artistic. Also, thank you for your kind words. As a native New Yorker don't be surprised if you find yourself in one of my galleries some day.

Carol,

Another great series of shots from you especially the "British Columbia Revisited" ones ! Once again, you have the right "eye", well done !!

Jim.
Jim Chiesa19-May-2004 08:15
Carol, from France I congratulate your "eye" on the photos you are taking. You have a unique "style" ! Keep up the good work. I have voted for your photo called "crisis" and put a few comments here and there. The other fans have expressed the same postive adjectives so I won't repeat them, but I do share them as well.
A big "Well done" to you, Carol ! I have added you to my list of favourites too !

Best Wishes.

Carol,
Great montage works you have, i still call these 'collage', i guess i'll have to get used to the 'new' word for this kind of work.

I was surprised to see you're dedicating this gallery to Phil, as i just did some digital crafting from one of his photographs.http://www.pbase.com/image/26680414

Congratulations for a great gallery, keep adding up !

Thank you for looking through my galleries. Glad you enjoyed them.
The workshop in Sedona was the "Shutterbug Digital Photography Workshop Series". They are held at various great locations for fabulous photo shoots & 3 day workshops. I will be checking into another before too long. It was a wonderful way to see new places with people who also love photography.
Also checked out your galleries. Wonderful pictures. You have a good eye. The Las Vegas pics brought back memories of a recent visit. Thank you.
Very sorry it took so long to reply. Have been in a remodel project before 1st grandbaby arrives,(any moment).

Hello Carol
Pardon me from not responding earlier on your fine words you left in my guestbook - days have been rather busy.
Thank you very, very much for the time you took to go through my galleries, and even more for those warming comments you left for me. This means a lot to me and strengthens my determination to keep on down the long and winding road of POD 365. Knowing that someone out there likes my work enough to take time to look repeadetly is indeed enlightening, and if my pics add a little pleasure to our everyday life, then I am very happy !
Thank you again

Carol, today is the day that Carol E. Sandgren Fan Club is apparently meeting in the pages of your guestbook. Bailey Zimmerman, one of pbase's most valued and respected artists, has checked in with this morning as well. And now I have stopped by to thank you for your latest comments on two of my pictures. Each of them encouraged me to post my own counter comments, extending the public dialogue and the teaching. You have become quite a catalyst to learning, my friend. I thank you still again for pursuing my galleries with such zeal and leaving a trail of valuable comments in your wake.

Phil

Carol, thanks for the delighful message in my guestbook. You are delightful correspondent, full of tough, thoughtful questions and strong opinions. It's a joy for me to help you in any way I can. And thanks for continually leaving comments on my pictures - I have posted counter comments on a number of them so that others can share our dialogue and perhaps learn something more about each of those examples.

Best,

Phil

Thanks, Carol, for the two wonderful comments you left on my pictures today. You have made two very important points that significantly increase the teaching potential of each of these images. Thanks so much for adding more meaning to my 'cyberbook"
