Evora is a walled city. There are remains of the old Roman wall plus a well-preserved Roman temple. There's an Ossuary Chapel, the walls made of the bones and skulls from some 5000 people. It was built by the Franciscans with the purpose to inspire meditation about life and death. Over the door is a phrase saying, in effect, "we're already here and now waiting for your arrival."
There's a beautiful peacock in the Palace Gardens, and a cat that loved posing for the camera.
