Thank you for your time here and for your very kind comments. Mad Max-Road Warrior came to mind quite often as we explored this crazy event! I could not capture the true feeling of this festival in any photograph but believe me, the actual product is much more colorful and fun than my pictures can ever show.

Hi Lee, I am in the Photo 39 group in SD and a 6th time burner. My Son was on top of the Derick when the sandstorm hit. I was below, in fact in your image I can make out where I was standing. I jammed 3 cameras that day and most of my images thereafter were out of focus. My Son Karl had wished he had one of my cameras when he was on top of the Derick. The seven statues of the women where engulfed in the sandstorm but their heads and arms could be seen, as if they were reaching through the clouds to God. Are you going again this year? There is some talk about a few of us from the meetup photo group going or meeting there. Best, Kris Balch

I would almost expect to see " Charleston Heston" walk in with two stone tablets and break them in grief,,, Aka , 1960's Moses Movie ( What? no "Golden Calf" ) Wild looking event.. Vote.. ( These place needs to be make into a documentray,, only using old school 16mm cameras, then dub over the sound with an announcer wearing black glasses and a cordaroy green sport coat....

The event was so freaking huge I never made it as far as her camp. I heard there were over 45,000 people there this year! You better make it 45,001 next year..
