Lost Dutchman State Park Star Party 02-Nov-2019

Lost Dutchman State Park Star Party 02-Nov-2019

We had our first Lost Dutchman State Park event of the new season on Saturday evening, Nov. 2nd. The skies started out clear but later in the evening clouds rolled in. We were still able to observe many celestial wonders.

The visiting public of ~150 expressed a lot of interest in what we could show them and the bit of astronomy we could teach as well. Here are notes from Art Fesler-Butts -

"I counted 111 adults, 26 school age kids and 8 toddlers with one dog named Wrigley after the Cubs' stadium. We had 9 scopes, Joe's spectrum scope and 2 binoculars. I miss hearing about M34 but this is the list that i picked up on: M31, 32, 110, MGC 869, 884, Vega and Jupiter for spectrums, 2 moons of Saturn with four moons of Jupiter. Our moon of course, Polaris, a couple of open star clusters, one planetary nebula, a double cluster in Perseus and four satellites."

Thank you, Art.

Our thanks again to the Lost Dutchman State Park management and volunteer staff for providing this location and support.
