Late Bloomer Sunflower

Cheers to all the late bloomers in life!
In Texas, 95% of Lubbock County is dedicated to growing cotton and wheat,
but a local resident gave me directions to a field of sunflowers and
urged me to go right away since the blooms are short-lived.
I found a POV that emphasized the slight S-curve in the rows and saw this lovely late bloomer.
These sunflowers are all about four feet tall and are grown for their seeds and oil.
Even more rare for Lubbock, a sign said the crop was cultivated without pesticides.

Wow! Dave said it best...just awesome! So many sunflowers in a sea of yellow and green. And I too love your composition. So cheerful!

THAT is an awesome shot! Amazing composition.

All those mournful sunflowers and the lead flower's shouting, "Come on, chins up for our portrait!" You know, with that base of leaves looking somewhat like an ocean of green, these sunflowers look something sea anemones. Or maybe the lead sunflower is the bravest of the bunch, the rest of them are quite shy, as they head toward freedom somewhere beyond Texas.

It's possible the droopy flowers are actually looking for the way to San Jose. I think what's actually happening, though is that the lead flower is singing:

"If you're going to San Francisco
Be sure to wear some humans in your petals"

A fantastic, colorful composition!
