Leonardo da Vinci drew the Virtruvian Man circa 1490, and based it on the ratios of ideal human proportions to geometry,
as written by the Roman architect Vitruvius around 15 BC in his book on architecture.
My 2012 version depicts a man with arms and legs outstretched, paired with a section of a circle with rectangular glass panes
directly beneath the dome in the Utah state capitol building in Salt Lake City.
(he's lying down on the rotunda on the first floor and I'm standing in the basement, looking up)
