Soda Dam, Jemez Mountain National Scenic Byway, New Mexico

At first glance, Soda Dam was merely a refreshing cascade.
As I considered composition, I knew that if a rainbow was in the spray,
it would only be visible if the sun was 180 degrees behind me.
Sure enough, I walked around until I found the rainbow.
A polarizer helped intensify the colors, and a fast shutter speed
captured the dancing droplets of water.
