Glowing Glove at World's First Nuclear Power Plant, Idaho

Experimental Breeder Reactor-1 (EBR-1), near Arco, Idaho is now a museum.
EBR-1 was a breeder because it created ("bred") more uranium atoms than it consumed.
It was the first facility to produce both new plutonium-235 and
generate sufficient electricity to operate itself.
EBR-1 started producing electricity on December 20, 1951 and
was operational whenever the reactor was engaged
until it was decommissioned in 1964.
This glove was part of the protective gear used at the plant.
The work surface is pitted and scratched from tasks such as manipulating radioactive materials.

This really does look radioactive with the negative effect on the background grasses. That glove glows with such an incredible sheen! Looks as if it's just been thrown there but have to have been years ago! Good information about the EBR, and cool but eery photo!
