44.15 - Aurora And Moon Over Split Rock Lighthouse

While auroras are usually seen as
greens and dark reds against black,
these that were shot closer to approaching dawn
looked this way against the brightening blue.

The sky did not look this blue to the naked eye,
but showed up only in the camera
with the shutter open a few seconds,
the camera being more sensitive to the
increasing light than our eyes can notice.

This is image just jumps at you. When we were up there in May. We got up at 4AM so we could be up at Split Rock for the sunrise. Great image. Gary
