More Visitors 1 (Taken close-range from dining room window.)

This is a different bear family who have also been visiting, a mother with two youngsters.

We have since taken away all of the bird feeders, but the four bears are all still coming around daily to see what they can get into.

They break off posts, drag around the lawn furniture, pull down young trees, and we're rightfully concerned that they will try to get into the house -- because bears do that.

Until these folks can be dealt with -- and at least the lone yearling orphan will have to be relocated -- we can no longer feed the birds we've spent years attracting.

We can't enjoy our yard at all, because they come up to the house frequently and have little fear of us and we won't be able to open our windows this summer until we're assured they are gone.

So, it's been fun to photograph - they're adorable from a distance, but they need to go. It's them or us.

For the most part, bears are quick learners. Get some help from your local wildlife protection people to "condition" this group of bears with bear spray (high potency pepper spray) potentially rubber buckshot. Canada's park rangers have found that bears will avoid people once they associate people with burning eyes and nose and breathing difficulty. This is not something you need to take on yourself.

I'd start by trying to make friends with them Larry, at least they don't carry guns.
