this is a very cute series. it's especially effective because of your comment about someone needing to unplug her. :) it puts it all into context.
what immediately catches your eye though are the very light pastel colors. i had seen one other photo somewhere in your galleries before, i think it was a self-portrait in DSLR-girl. i notice that you're using a Sony camera for these shots, so my guess is that the secret to this effect is the use of night shot. :) infrared basically.
i don't think color affects the outcome of these shots too much. i.e. they would've worked equally well in full color. i say this because i think the focus of the pictures is MeiMei, and her actions and expressions in them. all eyes are on her; so much so that people forget about the color, it becomes secondary.
stylistically speaking however, the infrared is a nice unifying element. it gives all the photos the same limited color palette. i also have a slight impression that it gives the photos a webcam or photo booth kind of effect.
infrared looks fun. i've read articles on it on Eric Cheng's website before. i imagine the Sony digicam is very nice to have for that purpose. one of these days i'll have to give it a try.
