It was a heavy downpour at school in May (my son) when they had to stand outside
waiting for the school bus. His Ipod got wet and it wouldn't turn on.
I put the Ipod in rice and silica gel packets/sealed bag for two weeks hoping it would turn on.
It did turn on but the backlight must of been shorted cause it was a very dim screen. (black screen)
So I thought this Ipod has met its death.
At times I would turn it on hoping it would work but still the same, dark screen.
I googled dark dim screen and read it could be replaced for a fee and labor.
I thought it may not be worth it since it could cost about $100 + to Apple.
Yesterday, a friend inquired that I could get a replacement battery for $59 (at the Apple store) but would that include the back light?
I thought about it but still slow to respond what to do.
(In the meantime, when I turned it on, the screen would get bright for a second but then turn dark dim when I swiped the unlock)
I was thinking of getting a replacement LCD and do it myself with hesitation, when this morning,
I played around with the settings, a restore and to my amazement,
the Ipod stayed bright the whole time !
Yipee, the 'rice and time' was what I needed and it seems everything works !
