A Tribute

This very large plaque is found at the summit of Pike's Peak, Colorado.
A trip to Colorado in 1893 and the view from Pikes Peak inspired
Katharine Lee Bates to write the poem, "America the Beautiful,"
which was published in The Congregationalisttwo years after she wrote it.
The Boston Evening Transcript published a revised version in 1904,
and the public adopted the idealistic poem quickly.

Nice historical data. I have always wished this was our National Anthem instead of the other one.

I would think it would be a race car photo. ;-)

Wouldn't it be nice to put a sound clip of American the Beautiful behind this image?
