Day 5, Wed., 8/18 –
Depart Vienna by motorcoach to Krems. Cruised down the Danube River from Krems to Weisenkirchen...about an hour's cruise. Beautiful weather and wonderful scenery along the shore. Motorcoached on to the beautiful Melk Abbey. Toured the abbey and ate lunch there. Hugh had Goulash again.

Continued drive to Salzburg, stopping briefly in Mondsee for a visit to the church used in the Sound of Music. Had iced tea at a sidewalk cafe, beautiful weather, ~ 85, then on to Salzburg (Seitzburg to the Austrians).

Arrived in Salzburg at 5:45, had dinner at the hotel (such great breads!) and then attended the Sound of Music show with singing and dancing and a short film of Maria Von Trapp and some real history behind the movie. The American version of the story by Rogers and Hammerstein was not totally authentic.
