This is one of the calendar pages. The month and year
text as well as the calendar grid was rendered on the
Mac using a program called HappyNewYear. Believe it or
not it is a $10 program. HappyNewYear was designed to
produce finished calendars and it does so very well. I
originally used only HappyNewYear to produce my calendars.
However, I wanted more.

I wanted to be able to add additional text. Here I added
it at the bottom. I also wanted to be able to control the
background. HappyNewYear allows colored backgrounds but
only solid colors. I wanted to be able to use more decorative
backgrounds and also use a contrasting color within the lower
lip of the case.

I originally used PhotoShop to accomplish the final design. However,
this proved to be a tedious task. I had to cut and paste each
picture in place in the calendar pages as well as the back page.

FotoFusion made this a lot easier. I could set up multiple frames
in a template and drag and drop papers and photos until I got the
look I wanted.

The calendars are printed 2-up on 8.5x11 inch paper. I added a
frame containing crop marks. The calendars have to be cut out by
hand using a knife. Standard cutters, both guillotine and roller,
were a pain to use without measured backstops. I'd like to find an
easier way to cut the calendars since that is where I spend the
most time.
