Mt Campbell Observatory - a life long dream fullfilled - now closed

An Astronomers HEAVEN! Now Closed :-(

Located 23km (in a direct line) from the centre of Canberra, Australia's capital city,
Mt Campbell Observatory enjoys mag 6 skies at an elevation of
nearly 800m (200m above nearby Canberra) and is well placed for southern
sky observations at a latitude of 35deg South.

The observatory consists of a Meade 12" LX200GPS, Astrophysics 152EDF on
an NJP mount (under the silver bag in photo) as well as an Orion 80ED and Saxon 70mm refractor. The main
cameras used at the observatory are a Starlightxpress MX716 and SXV-H9
and both are excellent and easy to use cameras.

You can see the observatory construction photo's at http://www.pbase.com/strongmanmike2002/observatory_construction

As of August 23rd 2006, Mt Campbell Observatory officially closed :-(
