On September 28, 2006 firefighter Skip Fletcher and myself were presented with awards from the American Red Cross for volunteering during the Hurricane Katrina relief effort.
Skip assisted in Louisiana and I was sent to Gulfport, Mississippi.
The Whitman police officer to the right is Officer Christopher Lee who was also awarded for actions he took during a high speed car chase that passed through a "wire down" call that Whitman's engine was on. The car being chased passed through the scene and firefighters were still in the roadway. Without Officer Lee's actions someone may have been seriously injured or killed.
