08/11/2011 - Around 1430 hours, while firefighters were still operating at a working fire on Winthrop Street, a central station alarm was struck for 55 VFW Parkway. Companies arrived to find heavy smoke on floor 4 of a 7 story occupied apartment building. A fire was found in an apartment on the fourth floor. Companies were able to knock down the fire quickly. The fire caused the evacuation of the large apartment building.
